-------------------------------
Appearance: Like his sister, James is blond-haired, but in contrast, he has a much healthier complexion and his eyes are a darker brown. He is of average height, leaning on the taller side of the scale, but he is lanky, like a boy who is still catching up to his teenage growth spurt. From being in the sun so much, he has a very light spattering of freckles across the top of his cheeks and the bridge of his nose, though they’re so faint they’re barely noticeable. He wears the school uniform, but on weekends, he replaces his formal attire for a regular long-sleeved button-up.
Personality: Though his upbringing could have made James quite a bit of a snob, he and his sister narrowly managed to escape that fate by the sheer fact that no matter what, James and Eleanor would always, at least, have to share with each other. Lively and outgoing, James makes friends easily with freely-given smiles and a very gentlemanly formality that has been ingrained into him. He is chivalrous to women, most of all (except Eleanor, maybe), perhaps in compensation for the lack of a woman’s touch in the Campbell childhood. He is not afraid to strike up conversations or initiate interaction, sometimes to the annoyance of more sullen peers.
In complement to that, however, James is a very independent and stubborn boy, and he has grown some resistance to the fact that he was so lucky in his childhood, when everyone else seemed to be suffering. He almost considers it a disadvantage, sometimes, and is constantly trying to prove that he is more world-weary and knowledgeable than some Little Master of a rich household.
Of course, he isn’t some sage of the world, so this facet of his personality takes form in the fact that when the going gets tough, James is a perfectionist. He has high standards for himself and for everyone else. He just expects people to do not only well, but as well as he thought they would. James will often push too hard. This, in combination to his energetic gung-ho attitude, makes him inconsiderate. Sometimes, he simply needs someone to bulldoze him down in his war path and remind him that hey, humans need a breather before always charging forward. Subtlety doesn’t work very well on him – a slap on the face will do more than hints woven into some conversation. James has a lot of pride built into his character, and it makes for a good fighter, just not always a good sympathizer.
Despite that, James usually means well. Unforgiving as he is on the outside, he has a soft heart for things he cares about, and can ultimately let his friends and family get away with any liberties they take with him.
History: James and Eleanor were born in Pennsylvania as children of privilege, to a wealthy family that, by some stroke of fortune, managed to retain their abundance despite the downturn of the economy by relying on the steel industry, which had prospered despite the hard times. Born six minutes later than his elder sister, James nonetheless experienced the same pampered treatment that shaped their childhood. They grew up attended by many helping hands, but by the stern hand of their single father, however, neither child grew excessively spoiled, even if sometimes, the naiveté of a wealthy background sometimes shows through.
That is, to say, the Campbell family has never known hardship.
Their education had been at the forefront of their father’s concerns, and he had them sent to well-funded and well-equipped institutions since they were old enough to attend. Both siblings proved to perform well in their studies, as well, and even though their hobbies and circles of friends began to drift apart – James to his shooting and Eleanor to her cooking – the two twins and their father remained a close-knit triad of a family. Of course, they had their trifle fights, as siblings are wont to do, but to put it simply: it was an uneventful, but fortunate life, better than could be said for many Americans during the era.
Adessi was the latest of the educational endeavors their father sent them on. Truthfully, James had wanted to attend a boarding school somewhere further away, having always been the more fiercely independent of the two, and, as a boy, eager to prove himself in a world of men, but ultimately agreed to wait until university for that. Their grades and affluence certainly did nothing to mitigate their chances of acceptance, and the fall after turning fifteen, both James and Eleanor were promptly enrolled.
Weapon: Hunting Rifle Stats: Agility, Strength, Magic, Luck, Vitality Persona: Caledfwlch → Arthur (Caledfwlch is the Welsh name for the Excalibur, Arthur’s legendary sword, and Arthur, of course, is the same legendary Arthur Pendragon of lore. Like most other Emperor personas, Arthur is a king.) Strength: Water → Ice Weakness: Fire Primary Skillset: Water → Ice Secondary Skillset: Physical (Strike) Other: James is a big fan of baseball, but he has never exactly learned how to play, being that he wasn’t exactly one of those kids around the neighborhood you could round up for a friendly game. The schools he went to also preferred classier recreational activities like…riding a horse, which he actually does with some proficiency, even if it’s torture on his back.
Also, Eleanor is actually the Empress character reserved (by a friend). I tried not to incorporate much about her in my application, but obviously parts of the history will be shared. I hope sibling characters are all right?
