Halloween Event!

Trick or Treat

It's that time again - time to gorge yourself full of sweets and candies. Of course, that means you have to trick or treat for it. It doesn't matter if you meant to trick or treat, because for some reason, you're doing it anyway. Actually, you've already knocked on the neighbor's door, and suddenly blurted out, "Trick or treat!" Whether you meant to or not.

And suddenly, you're in costume. Huh. You don't remember picking that to wear... Oh, and just in time for the person to answer the door and give you candy.

So have at it, trick or treaters! Or candy-givers alike.

[Cue Dojimer covering his mouth.]

[Adachi tosses whatever is in his hand at Dojima - (un)fortunately, it happens to be only an empty plastic jack'o'lantern candy tote.]

Shut it! It wasn't my idea!

[Self-consciously, he tugs up his gakuran collar.]

[And subconsciously pops it.]

[The hand over Dojima's mouth blocks the bucket from smacking him in the lip, but it really doesn't help when Adachi pops his collar.]

Aren't you a little... old for that?

[Hand still on his collar, Adachi looks up at him.]

For what? The uniform?

[Because one could never be too old for candy.]

For... yeah. And the trick-or-treating.

[Don't forget Dojima's an old fogey, now.]

[Half bluff and half real bravado, Adachi scoffs, drawing himself up in his costume. For a second, he almost gives off the same aura as Dojima's nephew. Must be the fool arcana in his blood.]

You can never be too old for that, Dojima-san. Gotta get into the spirit of the holiday. Speaking of...where's your costume?

[Rolling his eyes, Dojima leans his shoulder against the door frame, crossing his arms.]

I'm way too old for a costume.

[Adachi takes a step closer, rubbing his chin, pushing his nerdy glasses up the bridge of his nose.]

Don't you still have your Trekkie getup from last year? That one was fine. Form-fitting.

[There's only the slightest tint of his cheeks there. Dojima scoffs, glancing away.]

No way I have that thing anymore.

[He may or may not be lying.]

[Adachi laughs.]

You're totally lying! Take it out!

No! I told you, I'm too old to dress up.

No, you're not. I see otaku do it all the time.

[You otaku, Dojima.]

[Sigh.]

I'm not an otaku, Adachi.

[Adachi smiles smugly, like he knows a secret he won't let anyone in on, and just tugs on Dojima's wrist. The uniform makes him look younger, but he's always been a bit on the childish side.]

C'mon, Dojima-san. You're not gonna shut the door in my face and make a guy like me do this all on his own, are you?

[This guy's 180's never cease to amaze Dojima. From smug, to pleading? Jeez. He doesn't pull his hand away (never does), but he does give Adachi a look of disbelief.]

You're almost thirty, Adachi. You're wearing a high school uniform, and you're trick-or-treating. And you expect me to just be pulled along for the ride?

It's Halloween!

[As if that explained everything. Apparently tired of waiting, Adachi springs into action, barging in through the door (he has never been unwelcome before), heading directly to the bedroom and beginning to look through drawers.]

I know I saw that obnoxious yellow shirt somewhere around here. I found it once when I was looking for the bottle-

H-hey, wait a second!

[But Dojima's too late to stop him, trailing a few steps behind, and Adachi's rummaging turns up victorious - a mustard yellow shirt is neatly folded, shoved in the back of one of his drawers. (With the bottle - nice and hidden, unless you're one of the two who know its whereabouts.)]

[Triumphantly, Adachi holds it up by the back of the collar, with a look on his face that says, "You were saying?"]

...

[He just didn't have the heart to throw it out, okay?]

Still not wearing it.

Why not? Consider it helping an innocent, pleading civilian out.

[Was that supposed to be you, Adachi? He seems to think better of the suggestion himself, turning around to grab something else from the drawer, and taking a few steps, presents one item in each hand. In his left is that desaturated pure yellow of the Star Trek uniform. In his right, is a bottle with obvious implications. Adachi's face is comically serious.]

You have a choice. Choose wisely.

What kind of choice is that?!

[Sorry, Adachi, but a ridiculous notion like that is just asking for a smack to the head - whack.]

It's- what, ow! Hey!

[Adachi goes down, or rather, he ducks forward to avoid any repeat performances of that smack, rubbing the back of his head.]

It's not rocket science, Dojima-san! One or the other - it's a pretty obvious choice if you ask me!

And it's a stupid choice. I told you, I'm not doing it.

[This time, Dojima excuses himself from the room. Probably to get some coffee.]

[Tossing the bottle onto the bed, Adachi takes the Galaxy Trek uniform with him as he trails after the other man, an obvious whine to his voice.]

Aww, c'mon, Dojima-san. Everybody's doing it, and it's not like it's gonna look out of place. I've seen old people out and about in costume before.

[...Tactful, Adachi.]

Think of it as keeping me company. Y'wouldn't shove me out into the street by myself, would you? I mean, what if somebody misunderstands and tries to mug me 'cause they think I'm some unsuspecting teenager from the back, or something?
