Halloween Event!

Trick or Treat

It's that time again - time to gorge yourself full of sweets and candies. Of course, that means you have to trick or treat for it. It doesn't matter if you meant to trick or treat, because for some reason, you're doing it anyway. Actually, you've already knocked on the neighbor's door, and suddenly blurted out, "Trick or treat!" Whether you meant to or not.

And suddenly, you're in costume. Huh. You don't remember picking that to wear... Oh, and just in time for the person to answer the door and give you candy.

So have at it, trick or treaters! Or candy-givers alike.

[The half-broken door almost falls of the hinges when it opens.]

Sorry pal, I don't have any ca--

.....
.......
......

.....Wait, are you supposed to be the Creature from the Black Lagoon or something?

[Whoosh.]

[Whoosh! You wouldn't know it from the lack of change in her expressions, but those black shades? They gleam in the light as Shih-na points a very pointy finger straight at Gumshoe's face, right between his eyes, so that it would be uncomfortable to even try to focus cross-eyed on it.]

That is irrelevant. Having no candy while answering the door on Halloween is practically a crime. You should be arrested.

[Which of course he does try and it nearly gives him a headache.]

W-W-WAIT A SEC, PAL! The lights were off for a reason! I only answered the door because I thought maybe it was important or somethin'.

...And it's not like I didn't want to have candy to give out! ...But I could only afford one bag... and then I realized I didn't have enough money to buy cup noodles... and I got kind of hungry... so..

[From under a flap of steak, she pulls out a scroll and unfurls it. Lang isn't here, so in her quiet, calm voice, she reads, pointedly:]

The Great Lang Zi wrote, 'Excuses are only the bricks with which we pave our road to crime.'

I'M NOT A CRIMINAL, PAL!!

...
.....

....Is your dress made out of meat?

[He's eyeing it pretty hungrily]

[She doesn't look down at herself, no, she's too composed for that, but Shih-na does take a moment to respond.]

It is a costume.

[Talk about a p-p-p-poker face.]

[There's a trickle of drool running out of the side of his mouth.]

...What are you gonna do with it when you're done with it? You're not gonna throw it away, are ya pal?

[identity profile] shih-na.livejournal.com 2010-10-30 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Would it concern you either way?

[identity profile] stickysteps.livejournal.com 2010-10-30 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I just didn't want it to go to waste, is all...

No need to worry, detective. After this costume has run its due course, the materials will be aptly used. We of the Lang clan are very resourceful.

Unlike some others.

[He's more than just a little disappointed.]

Did you have a better suggestion?

[identity profile] stickysteps.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
.........I just thought it looked kind of tasty, pal....

The Great Lang Zi once taught that eating raw, unprepared meat is a common source of disease and malnutrition.
