Bah RUMPAH Pum Pum

It's the end of the year, and Fagsona's throwing a grand, gay ol' holiday party! And boy, are they overdoing it. There's mistletoe everywhere, the spontaneous urge to break into carols, spiked eggnog, presents for everyone under a huge tree, and even someone in the corner over there dressed up like Santa, ready (even if unwilling) for anyone to come sit on their lap and spill out their deepest heart's desires! (Poor bugger, whoever that muse is.)

And believe me, with all that decoration and alcohol, you're definitely gonna spill.

Evan tilted his head. As far as his expression told, and in stark contrast to what Danny was probably feeling, there was nothing wrong with the entire world right now, and peace and love and all that good stuff for all. "What?" he asked, like he even had to.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHAT?!" Danny clenched his teeth, making a noise at the end of his sentence that kind of sounded like a growl. Thinking about it, he seemed a lot like those yappy dogs that he kept around.

Exasperated, and because like Evan reminded him, it was 'fucking Christmas!', Danny let out a defeated sigh. M-Maybe Evan'd just forget or something by the time the holidays were over. Plenty of more important things could happen between now and then anyways, right? R-Right...?; He glanced back over to Evan, trying to change the topic away from Danny's failure to use his brain, "Hey.. What's it like to have a sibling anyway? I'm an only child but I always though it'd be cool to have a brother or somethin'."

It was a strange, unexpected question. Evan's eyes widened, just a little, and he stopped short in whatever idle motion. "You are?" he asked, more a musing to himself than an actual question.

It surprised him for two reasons. Firstly, he was surprised to hear that Garamond only had one son, given the nature of the empire he had built, and while Circle Seven wasn't necessarily a dynastic organization, it was simply...well, Evan had always thought of him as a somewhat fatherly figure, a lasting impression from their first meeting, perhaps.

Secondly, Evan had never given much thought to the idea that having siblings would be anything other than what it was. He had been born and raised with more brothers and sisters than he knew what to do with, more than what was necessarily, really, and he had never questioned their presence. Even Viana, who put herself in constant danger, was a presence that he counted on naturally. Evan never thought about what it would be like to be an only child. That was, perhaps, the more curious question.

So while he wouldn't forget what Danny said that easily (his memory wasn't poor enough), he humored the young Garamond with another smile. "It's not all it's cracked up to be. You have to share everything, you often have to play second fiddle, and if you're older, you've always got to be responsible and think for everyone. If you're younger, you'll always be standing in someone's shadow and wearing someone's hand-me-downs. Take your pick."

"Seriously? Sounds like a pain in the ass." Danny didn't think that there was anything particularly mystifying about being an only child. It was the same as being in a crowded room filled with strangers: He didn't have any obligations to anyone, but there was no one who had his back either. Blood was thicker than water after all, but the only way he'd really experienced that feeling was because of his loyalty to the Boss.

Danny placed a hand to his chin thoughtfully, scrunching up his nose a little. "I always thought it'd be something like.. Having someone around who you could count on regardless of what happened, because you'd share the same history and know all about each other.. So in a way you'd be kinda similar even if you were different?"

Always incredibly coherent, that Danny.

"...Maybe." Evan laughed, a hand raising to the back of his neck. "Actually, I never really thought about it much. If you want, I could always lend you Vi for a day and see how you fare."

"FUCK THAT!" This reaction to Viana's presence was Danny's natural reflex, so after he actually managed to put thought into his words before they came out of his mouth, he added, "It, um, wouldn't be the same, y'know?"

Evan grinned. "Why not? You can't exactly be choosy about your siblings in reality either, you know."

"Do you actually think she would go along with somethin' like that?" Danny eyes narrowed, mouth agape in disbelief. "She can't stand me."

"Sounds like a sibling to me," Evan said wryly, though he did wager that Viana would not take kindly to the proposal at all, and while that would be no hair off either of their backs, it was probably not a good idea to be the ones responsible for the death of the Boss' only son. "You're really that curious?"

It seemed like Evan was kind of bitter towards his siblings, though with a sister like Viana, Danny didn't blame him one bit. Danny gave a slight nod in response. "Well, yeah. It's something I always kinda wondered about."

"Well then, how about we temporarily adopt you into the Dominico family, then? You can see what it's like for a day or two." Before you go running for the hills, Evan mentally added. This was entirely on a whim, and harmless besides. The kid was obviously not very socially acclimated, judging from his particular choice in attire. What harm could it do? And it never hurt, besides, to cull a little favor with the son of the Boss. "You're now the..."

He took a moment. Danny was younger than Viana, and hence probably younger than Jonah, but probably still older than Celia, Sammy and Berta. "Fourth youngest honorary member."

"Huh, what, are you serious?" Danny blinked a couple of times towards Evan's proposal. He'd never heard of something like being an adopted sibling and didn't exactly know what it entailed, but at the same time, it sounded kinda fun. More surprising than that was that Evan had made such an offer to begin with. Honestly, Danny was used to being treated as a nuisance (obviously a result of his obnoxious personality). Of course, he was pretty much oblivious towards other people's negative feelings (with the exception of special cases like Viana's), but he at least realized Evan was treating him better than most people did.

"That sounds awesome!" Danny smiled briefly before realizing exactly what Evan had said. "Wait, fourth youngest? Just how many of you are there?"

"Thirteen, including you," Evan answered, and even though it had been a long time since he had thought of them, and longer yet since they had thought of he and Viana (which was part of why they left in the first place - to ease the burden on their...somewhat overzealous parents), the thought brought a half wry, half fond smile to his face. "That's more siblings than you know what to do with, now."

"Thirteen?! Are you serious?!" Danny's mouth dropped open in shock. He couldn't even fathom having that many siblings (not like he could really fathom how it would truly be to have even one). The Dominico family sure was huge. "So wait, which number are you?"

"Lucky number seven, if you're counting up, but I wouldn't worry about the rest of them if I were you. The chances of you seeing your other...ah, 'siblings', aren't particularly high."

"Are you and Viana the only ones on the ship?" Danny asked. Of course he said "on the ship" and not "in the mafia." For someone who had born and raised in Circle Seven, life outside the organization wasn't even imaginable.

"Viana and I are the only ones on this side of the galaxy," Evan quipped. There was no remorse or bitterness in that, considering the two had long since come to terms with their Runaway From Home And Them Some fiasco.

"Yeah?" Danny questioned, genuinely interested in Evan's family history. After all, it was his honorary family history too. He wasn't too shocked by the news, however. For someone who'd been traveling around with the mafia his whole life, making it to the opposite side of the galaxy didn't seem unreasonable. "Where's the rest of your family?"

"On the other side," he replied easily, a clear feint if there ever was one. Crossing his arms, Evan suddenly gave a curious look toward the refreshment table behind Danny. "Hey, you suppose that's any good, hermano? Everyone's been taking from it - even Bentley took a cup of the stuff."
