The Dead Moon. A post-apocalyptic moon that is now uninhabitable. The atmosphere is cold and slowly thinning. There is very little water and foliage on the satellite, and the ash and dust have turned the surface gray. Long dead trees dot Eurydice, as well as empty ravines and dried up river beds.
While certainly unlivable, many people still visit the planet for resources still in the ground. Bases have been built beneath the surface, some even advanced enough to have their own air supply for prolonged living conditions. Not all who go there have noble intentions, though. Many scavengers make their living by attacking people at their bases, claiming their base and stealing the resources.
The moon is technically under the universal laws of the solar system, but is not monitored by any law enforcement, making it a sort of renegade satellite. There are biyearly check-ups on the planet, but beyond that, it is largely ignored. Despite this advantage to less-than-legal operators, it is costly to stay there too long, deterring groups from making it a permanent base.
