Circle 7 Information

 ♚ Story Compendium

Main Theme

Over 1000 years have passed since the solar system's first integration attempt. As many of the originally colonized planets become increasingly unlivable, new technologies have allowed for sentient beings to develop life elsewhere. Natural resources are scarce, and while technology makes up for much of what was lost, organic materials are in high demand. Lack of information control and the introduction of global currencies has given rise to organized crime. This story in particular focuses on one such group that controls a large part of the middle-western solar system.

Pre-Established Cities

Asche. (ah▪sheh) A relatively small town on Erclesse that runs on steam power. Supposedly had one of the top hospitals in its area, but it has since shut down. (Their new one isn't so bad, though.) The townspeople are generally friendly, if a bit old-fashioned. The buildings of the housing district all tend to look similar, and the business district probably only differs a little with its shorter buildings, orange lights and awnings. Vapor is constantly wisping around the town, and tends to bottle up warmth; in winter, it's less cold than it should be.

Armistant. The Electric City. A hub of operation for the Organization and a technologically advanced city, not unlike some of the major cities today (Tokyo, New York). It is filled with skyscrapers and is much taller than it is wide. Rather than the usual city format of a dense center surrounded by looser suburbia, the city is organized by layers. Half of the city is built on a platform suspended above the ground, and is subject to natural light. The other half rests below the platform, and is only lit artificially, whether by timed electrical lighting or some other simulated means. The lower half is more of the 'slums' district.

Pre-Established Planets

Astaron. The Aquatic Planet. The surface of this planet is covered by water. The areas of the planet are distinguished like continents by the different densities and chemical compounds of the specific ocean masses. Astaron holds one of the major races of the story - a humanoid fish race (Quelorie is a member). The members of this race have no hair, their skin is a pale blue, and they require to be constantly hydrated (at least five hours in water a day). Their voices, when speaking, resemble a mix between talking and gurgling as a result of their distinct respiratory system. They have harder shell-like crests on the top of their head, and extensions from the back that are almost coral-like in nature (their version of hair, I suppose).

Gladsheim. The Debtor Planet. Originally one of the collaborators with the mafia, Gladsheim has long since fallen into debt for buying large amounts of weapons to back up their constant state of civil dispute. In a semi-mutiny, the military of Gladsheim has taken matters into their own hands and formed a rebellion group against the mafia, outright attacking the First Circle and stealing shipments of weapons with no intention to pay or take responsibility. They are the main antagonist group as of this moment.

Erclesse. The Dock planet. Though the mafia operates with a large-scale free-reign ship as their headquarters, Erclesse stands as one of their major 'docks' for the ship and its members to dock. It is used as a major 'gateway' for mafia members to gain access to the rest of the planetary system, and also serves as the bottleneck for transportation back to the headquarters ship.

First Circle

The First Circle is the administrative branch of the organization. Garamond, Calibri and most of the main characters reside within the First Circle.

Though the other circles specialize in other facets of the organization's business, the First Circle still contains a subset of people that have varied skills in order to do their own in-house missions. (Example: Viana and Evan would otherwise only live within the Intel branch of Circle 7.) These members can and often are on loan to other circles, however. Sometimes they serve as liaisons between the First and their skills-specific circle.

As a whole, the First Circle contains the most members and is the core of the Organization. As it contains members that can encompass the duties of the other six circles, if necessary, they could be fully self-sufficient if contact with any of the other circles are cut off.

Seventh Circle

The Seventh Circle, as the outermost circle, is the information gathering branch of the organization.

They specialize in intelligence gathering and distribution and serve as a major source of income for Circle 7 as a whole (the largest of their illegal businesses, at least). The Seventh Circle is currently led by a woman who is an old acquaintance of Garamond's. She, like the other Circle leaders, are high figures of power in the organization, but are still second to the First Circle's leader. Unlike the other leaders, however, she likes to keep her identity relatively anonymous, as it serves her well. Few within the Circle know of her true identity or name.

Gladsheim has recently overtaken the Seventh Circle, either by infiltration or by forceful takeover. Depending on which, the Seventh Circle's leader is either a double-agent or probably dead, by now. Because they now control the flow of information, however, the other parts of Circle 7 do not know of this yet, and will be slowly fed incorrect information that will increasingly frame them in more and more questionable situations in the Federation's eyes.

Third Circle

The Third Circle is the military manpower of the organization. It has the most members of all the Circles, although the cumulative manpower of the other six circles is still greater than the Third Circle alone (but not by much).

Because it is such a large sub-organization, the Third Circle itself is a triad. It has three leaders, who each control a different force of the military - one for the infantry (ground and water combat), one for aerial combat, and one for space combat.

Fourth/Fifth Circles

The Fourth and Fifth Circles are, respectively, the manufacturing and distribution circles. As Circle 7 is a self-reliant organization, the Fourth Circle handles the creation and accruement of all its supplies, rations, weapons and wares, and the Fifth Circle deals with transporting, allocating and selling.

The Fourth Circle has many headquarters spread across the solar system. The Fifth Circle is has a few stationed across central hubs of transportation.

Sixth Circle

The Sixth Circle is the engineering and research branch of the organization. As it deals with collecting new information, it is the closest to the Seventh Circle and its location is known only to the Seventh and First Circles. It is a largely peaceful sub-unit of the organization, composed mostly of scientists and engineers. Rumor has it that it is located on a largely abandoned planet somewhere on the outskirts of the solar system, where it won't attract attention.

Second Circle

The Second Circle is the financial management branch of the organization. It serves as a treasury to manage the large volumes of money being put through the organization.
