[Kristoph is sitting in a little corner cafe, sipping a cup of tea and flipping casually through a newspaper. Today was one of those rare days where he was completely free of work. The pleasant weather out had prompted him to take a walk, and he'd ended up wandering in here. Hey, he deserved a chance to relax every once in a while, didn't he?]

[Someone's just a way down the sidewalk, making their way over. Is the sound of cheap flip flops slapping on pavement familiar, Kristoph? Does it sound like your favorite hobo? Because it is!]

Well, if it isn't my old friend.

[Oh, wonderful. He keeps that pleasant smile plastered on his face as he folds the newspaper, setting it down on the table as he speaks.]

Ah, Wright. What a pleasant surprise.

Mind if I sit?

[Phoenix even has a bottle of his favorite grape juice in hand.]

Of course not. Please, have a seat.

[He gestures at the empty chair across from him.]

So, what brings you to this part of town, Wright? Mere coincidence? Or something more?

[Sliding the chair out, Phoenix sits with a nod of thanks, setting his bottle down on the table.]

A twist of fate, maybe?

[He chuckles.]

It very well could be. Perhaps fate is telling us to catch up with one another.

[He examines Phoenix's bottle, careful not to betray any of his distaste.]

Ah, it seems you've even brought your own beverage. Grape juice, I presume?

Haha, could be.

[Phoenix gives a nod, raising his bottle and taking a quick drink.]

Yep. You know me too well.

Some things never change, it seems.

[He takes a sip of his tea.]

I presume you and your daughter have been faring well?

We have. She gets better and better at magic everyday, haha.

How goes business? As an attorney, I mean.

One would wonder what other business you could be referring to. [He laughs.] But, yes, it's been quite well. Business has been growing, as of late. So much so that I felt the need to take on an apprentice.

Haha, I'm not sure what other business you would have.

[Or does he?]

But an apprentice, huh? How's that going?

He's eager to learn, if somewhat inexperienced. You should meet him sometime, Wright. I hear he was quite a big fan of yours.

A fan..? That's certainly a rarity. Hah.

I'd love to meet him. What's his name?

Apollo Justice. [AKA that guy with the ridiculous name.] He's fresh out of law school. I'm sure you know the type.

[Phoenix laughs.]

With a name like that, it's like he was born to be an attorney!

[He chuckles lightly along with him.]

Perhaps so. It is certainly... unique, in any case. Rather like your own. You don't see too many kids named "Phoenix".

Guess you've got a point there... But what can I say. It's grown on me. I kinda like 'Apollo Justice', too.

They do have a certain majestic ring to them, I'll admit. I would hardly be surprised if Justice got a good number of clients based on his name alone.

Imagine the catchphrases he could come up with on his name alone. 'The hand of Justice shall defend you!' Hahaha!

Bluffing and distracting your opponent seems to play a large role as well, no? [This is totally only about poker.]

Or rather, knowing when your opponent is bluffing. You have to pay close attention to the others' actions and expressions. You really see a person's true colors through the game.

[Yeah, totally.]

It sounds fascinating. I'm almost tempted to brush up on my poker skills.

Of course, you've gone undefeated for, what? Seven years now? I doubt I'd stand a chance.

I'm always willing to give a friend lessons.

[A lighthearted laugh, before Phoenix takes a thoughtful sip of grape juice.]

[He glances up from his paper at the sound of that familiar voice.]

Ah. Hello, Justice.

Apollo shuffles over, catching a glimpse of the headline. "Cold front blowing in!" Nothing that interesting.]

Been a slow week, huh..?

[He glances at the paper, then back at Apollo. He was right; it hadn't been that thrilling of a read.]

Without the latest trial to entertain them, it seems the papers have little else of interest to cover.

Hopefully we get a case soon.

Uh, I mean- not that it's a good thing, bad things happening to people and all! But we still need an income, and... yeah.

[He pauses, and smiles.]

...I'm sure a case will come along sooner than you think. I would have thought you'd appreciate this time off; you have been working rather hard lately.

[Besides, it's not like Apollo's gotten his own case yet.]
