History: Dante was born and raised in Italy, in the city of Naples. He lived with his small family of three; his father, mother, and him. They were very well-off, even if not through legal means, but his father cared about his family before all else. The Lucianos were always supported by Dante’s father (and sometimes Dante’s uncle – his mother’s brother), who let them lead a full life of privilege. Dante went to prestigious private schools (perhaps to avoid attention as well), took lessons in fencing and music (violin), and lived in a beautiful bayside home.

However, it wasn’t exactly a safe life of privilege. Although a peaceful man at heart, Dante’s father couldn’t possibly avoid conflict in his work. Too often he had to go to the “family doctor” (read: doctor who would hide the legalities) with injuries. Only once had Dante and his mother gotten directly involved, by a job gone wrong, which was where the scar on his neck came from. Dante doesn’t speak of the incident, however, since his family survived and healed past it. There was no reason to hang on – it was simply part of his father’s business. However, after that, he refused to take up in his father’s place when he became of age. Though disappointed, his father understood. For a while after the incident, Dante and his mother lived with her brother in Florence for safety reasons. Coincidentally, he is also involved in organized crime. (Guess how his parents met?) Dante became very close with his uncle and uncle’s family, which consisted of three cousins, and his aunt.

They lived with them for about a year before returning to Naples, and then a few months later, in 1933, Dante immigrated to America with his mother, leaving their father behind. His father warned them that things weren’t going to be looking good for Italy soon, and sent them on their way for something better, knowing his son wouldn’t be taking his place. (Even though things were not great for America either, they managed.) Dante was to support his mother by getting an education and starting work in the ‘Land of the Free,’ and was sent to Adessi Hall to complete high school, with enough money to last them a year or two. (This is when he took up the name Daniel to avoid discrimination.) Unfortunately, his mother is a delicate woman, and began to suffer much more stress after being in America – missing her husband, and constantly worrying for him. Nowadays, the only thing that puts a true smile on her face is receiving a letter from him.

Other: Dante has a particular interest in astronomy, idolizing the work of Galileo Galilei and what he brought to the world of science. This conflicts with his love of sleeping, as he’ll often stay up to stargaze. He’s usually none too happy about being rudely woken up, either, even if he pretends otherwise. Instead, he’ll spend the morning in complete silence until he calms down. (It takes him a while to catch up with what's going on, too.)
