Bah RUMPAH Pum Pum

It's the end of the year, and Fagsona's throwing a grand, gay ol' holiday party! And boy, are they overdoing it. There's mistletoe everywhere, the spontaneous urge to break into carols, spiked eggnog, presents for everyone under a huge tree, and even someone in the corner over there dressed up like Santa, ready (even if unwilling) for anyone to come sit on their lap and spill out their deepest heart's desires! (Poor bugger, whoever that muse is.)

And believe me, with all that decoration and alcohol, you're definitely gonna spill.

"Man, whatever!" Danny didn't seem to think this was a good enough excuse. "No one would give you shit for dressing up for Christmas."

He was certainly getting some for not dressing up though.

Danny peered cautiously over his shoulders, and as an afterthought added in a slightly quieter tone, "...Is Viana here?"

She wasn't, or at least, he hadn't seen her there yet, considering parties like this had never really been on the top of her priorities.

"Somewhere around here," he answered, gesturing to the hall.

A chill went up Danny's spine. Suddenly he felt like he was wading around in shark infested waters. Hopefully she wouldn't find him. Even better if she would avoid him. He didn't want his totally awesome Christmas attire getting all dirty. He glanced back at Evan, "Y'know, you're nothing like her at all."

While Danny was frantically looking about, Evan hid a smile behind the top edge of his bandanna. He didn't have to ask to know exactly what the boy was thinking in that moment.

"Really? Is that a good or bad thing?" In retrospect, that was a bit of an unfair question - a lose-lose situation, either way, but really, Danny seemed to give off the same kind of aura that Bentley did. Evan almost couldn't help but pull his leg like that.

"Definitely a good thing," Danny responded without hesitation. Apparently he didn't think that there could be a losing option in this case. "You're nowhere near as crazy as she is."

Or so he thought.

Now, Evan wasn't anything like Calibri either, but there was something sharp and edged about his close-eyed smile. "Are you calling my sister crazy?"

"Dude, absolutely." Okay well maybe that wasn't the best thing to tell someone's brother. He didn't even know if Evan was younger or older than she was.. Oops. "I mean.. you know.. a little.."

"Ah, that's too bad," Evan said, not regretfully at all, "Viana will be sad to hear that."

"W-What?!" Danny's face paled. "D-DON'T TELL HER THAT! SHE'LL KILL ME FOR REAL!"

"Are you telling me that you thought I was the kind of person that gossiped behind my own sister's back?" A look of mock offense.

"It's not gossip! It's honesty!" As far as Danny was concerned, Viana's craziness was as factual a notion as the idea that people needed to breathe in order to live.

"I don't think she'd appreciate that any more just because it's honest," Evan said, honestly, of course, while tapping his chin.

"Duuuude, don't tell her! Please!" Danny was looking frantic now, glancing over his shoulder again as if she might appear at any minute. It looked like he wasn't beneath begging for the sake of his safety. Did he actually have any pride?

Suddenly, just as Danny turned back to him, Evan's eyes widened as he stared at some empty space on the wall behind the Boss' son. "Ah, Vi, were you standing here the entire time, I didn't even realize!"

It was physically impossible for a person to materialize from thin air in that short of an expanse of time, but he didn't doubt that Danny probably thought she was some incarnation of Satan, and therefore physically capable of anything.

"BWAAAH?!!!!" Danny whipped around 180 degrees on one heel, instinctively wincing and throwing his arms up in front of his face like he expected to get punched. But after a few seconds when nothing happened, he opened his eyes wide enough to see that no one was there.

He turned back to Evan, face flushed and nose scrunched with rage. "H-HEY WHAT THE HELL THAT WASN'T FUNNY YOU ASSHOLE!"

"Ah, sorry, my bad," Evan said, making an effort to cover his lopsided grin, but it was either too wide for the span of his hand, or he wasn't really making the effort to cover anything, because the upturned corners of his mouth were still clearly visible over the edge of his palm. (Possibly the former, most likely the latter.) "I just thought you needed, um...to lighten up a bit. You're a little too tense for the holidays. You said so yourself, didn't you? It's 'fucking Christmas.'"

Danny just blinked a couple of times towards Evan's statement, thinking over what'd he'd just said. Fucking Christmas, huh..? Suddenly, a grin broke out on his face, and he gave a satsified nod. "You're right! What the hell am I worrying about shit like that for?"

Evan held up a finger. "Exactly. And because it's Christmas, I won't even tell her that you said that until after the holidays."

"..." Danny's grin dropped off pretty fast. He wasn't sure that made the situation any better. Well, sure, his death would be delayed past Christmas and that would be fantastic, but... "Man, come on..."

Evan tilted his head. As far as his expression told, and in stark contrast to what Danny was probably feeling, there was nothing wrong with the entire world right now, and peace and love and all that good stuff for all. "What?" he asked, like he even had to.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHAT?!" Danny clenched his teeth, making a noise at the end of his sentence that kind of sounded like a growl. Thinking about it, he seemed a lot like those yappy dogs that he kept around.

Exasperated, and because like Evan reminded him, it was 'fucking Christmas!', Danny let out a defeated sigh. M-Maybe Evan'd just forget or something by the time the holidays were over. Plenty of more important things could happen between now and then anyways, right? R-Right...?; He glanced back over to Evan, trying to change the topic away from Danny's failure to use his brain, "Hey.. What's it like to have a sibling anyway? I'm an only child but I always though it'd be cool to have a brother or somethin'."

It was a strange, unexpected question. Evan's eyes widened, just a little, and he stopped short in whatever idle motion. "You are?" he asked, more a musing to himself than an actual question.

It surprised him for two reasons. Firstly, he was surprised to hear that Garamond only had one son, given the nature of the empire he had built, and while Circle Seven wasn't necessarily a dynastic organization, it was simply...well, Evan had always thought of him as a somewhat fatherly figure, a lasting impression from their first meeting, perhaps.

Secondly, Evan had never given much thought to the idea that having siblings would be anything other than what it was. He had been born and raised with more brothers and sisters than he knew what to do with, more than what was necessarily, really, and he had never questioned their presence. Even Viana, who put herself in constant danger, was a presence that he counted on naturally. Evan never thought about what it would be like to be an only child. That was, perhaps, the more curious question.

So while he wouldn't forget what Danny said that easily (his memory wasn't poor enough), he humored the young Garamond with another smile. "It's not all it's cracked up to be. You have to share everything, you often have to play second fiddle, and if you're older, you've always got to be responsible and think for everyone. If you're younger, you'll always be standing in someone's shadow and wearing someone's hand-me-downs. Take your pick."

"Seriously? Sounds like a pain in the ass." Danny didn't think that there was anything particularly mystifying about being an only child. It was the same as being in a crowded room filled with strangers: He didn't have any obligations to anyone, but there was no one who had his back either. Blood was thicker than water after all, but the only way he'd really experienced that feeling was because of his loyalty to the Boss.

Danny placed a hand to his chin thoughtfully, scrunching up his nose a little. "I always thought it'd be something like.. Having someone around who you could count on regardless of what happened, because you'd share the same history and know all about each other.. So in a way you'd be kinda similar even if you were different?"

Always incredibly coherent, that Danny.

"...Maybe." Evan laughed, a hand raising to the back of his neck. "Actually, I never really thought about it much. If you want, I could always lend you Vi for a day and see how you fare."

"FUCK THAT!" This reaction to Viana's presence was Danny's natural reflex, so after he actually managed to put thought into his words before they came out of his mouth, he added, "It, um, wouldn't be the same, y'know?"
