doublejimers

[What a rough week.

Not that any week in Infinity is rough, given the lack of work, but sometimes those events take a lot out of a guy. Like those zombies, or swapping bodies, or countless other things that shouldn't be possible. It's not unusual for Dojima to hit up the bar, anyway - even if he is alone. There's nothing like a cool, soothing beer in the summer, too. Dojima finds himself easing already, bottle in hand, simply sitting at the bar and watching soccer. He was never much for sports (maybe a bit of baseball), but it's more entertaining to watch than he thought, especially with all the others in the place getting into it themselves. Not a bad atmosphere at all. He's still more subdued, though, what with being by himself. Oh well, still fun to watch.]

[There is a dangerous look growing in Adachi's eyes, but he doesn't make a move just yet, and it's hard to recognize unless you know to look for it, besides. Settling back in his seat ever-so-obediently, Adachi raises a brow at the counter as it fills up with beer. These two certainly weren't pulling any punches there - the space was almost beginning to get littered with full, half-full and empty glasses alike.]

Well, suit yourself. But in case you change your mind, you can...show each other the ropes or something. I mean...you gotta have each other's numbers and stuff, right?

[See this smile? It's only mischievous if you squint.]

How does that work anyway? You call yourself up and hope it rings? I mean, what if it just re-routes to yourself? Wait! U-unless you guys have different ones? It ends with two-three-seven-four, right?

Wh—

Hold up for a second, will you? Just what kind of operation are you guys running, anyway? Can’t be anything credible.

And since when could you memorize my phone number? I had to give it to you at least a hundred times back at the office.

[identity profile] nowheresman.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
[His is a heavy sigh. Adachi rests his chin in his hands, with no drink to nurse and not even a snack to preoccupy himself with (owner must be a cheapskate). Just in time, though, there is a roar from the other patrons of the bar and the responding echo of the crowd from the television, as the game takes its first interesting turn, with a goal from the underdogs, tucked in right at the corner, barely grazing the very tip of the goalie's hands, though it's not enough to stop it.

Like everyone else, Adachi looks up, but even if his attention's fixed on the screen, he murmurs to himself, just loud enough for one Dojima to hear and not the other.]

Wonder if you two are the same everywhere, huh?

[identity profile] nowheresman.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Adachi blinks at them, looking honestly confused.]

What? I mean, it's a valid thing to ask. Do you guys drive the same car? Have the same fingerprint? How about shoe size? Same exact morning routine? Like your coffee straight up, black, and scalding hot? If one of you eats a ton and gains two pounds right now, will the other expand to match? You know - stuff like that.

[identity profile] nowheresman.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
[He leans back after a second, preemptively wincing.]

J-jeez, what are you two so worked up about anyway?

[identity profile] detectivedad.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
Couldn't tell you. Not like I run into myself too often.

[ Huh. Maybe he was wrong after all. His expression contorts into an awkward grimace, and he turns to take a swig of his beer (is that a hint of embarrassment he's showing?). ]

It's nothing. Don't go saying awkward things like that.

[identity profile] nowheresman.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Adachi turns to his Dojima, and this time, since it's out of view of the other Dojima, the smirk is obvious, even if his voice is still clueless as ever.]

Huh? What did you guys think I meant?

[Just in the nick of time again, a roar comes from the television. Adachi grabs the nearest beer and raises it to the screen, joining in the ruckus.]

Whoaaa! Did you see that one!

[Of course they hadn't - the Dojimas had been busy misconstruing his innocent wondering.]

That one just blasted right through their defense and everything! Man, I really don't know what you guys are talking about - this game is great!

[Sure it is, Adachi. Just not the soccer game.]

[identity profile] nowheresman.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Because that's just what they need - for Dojima to get in his...tipsy mode in front of another Dojima. Perfect. Letting the beer slip out of his hand easily, Adachi jabs a finger up at the screen.]

Are you rooting for the same team too? Or playing for different sides?

[Of course he knows the innuendo won't get through. That's the fun of it, really.]

Maybe you guys are just general sports people. Play for both.

[identity profile] detectivedad.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh,

I’m just rooting for whoever’s winning, I guess.

[identity profile] nowheresman.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Taking it, Adachi takes a big gulp, downing nearly half of it with a small fake flinch. Social customs, and all that - a guy had to down a few with coworkers to get some respect around here, even if there wasn't much to be collected from this particular person at this particular time.]

Yeah, whoever's winning...guess that's pretty safe, but...what can you do in a situation like this? I mean, they're both playing pretty badly right now - the score's zilch to nada. Whoooa, that one, right there, way off the marker, huh, sir? Goalie could've just stood still and not lifted a finger and it would've sailed right past the net.

[While he's rambling harmlessly, though, one hand is drifting. It begins simply enough - a hand on his Dojima's knee, but as it has a tendency to do, considering its owner, it begins to wander. Under the counter, and with the game being as riveting as it was, it'd be hard for anyone to tell. Except the victim, of course.]

These game are always like that, aren’t they? Low scoring and all, I mean.

Gotta have some excitement in there.

[Speaking of excitement, before either of them can finish their beers and order more of that light fare, he raises a hand and orders something much better, rattling off the order so fluidly that it makes one wonder if he's used to relaying a series of similar orders before, perhaps back where he worked in the city with the head honchos.

The ice clinks in their glasses as a series of small glass cups filled three-quarters of the way with different-colored liquids is slid towards them. They range from clear, like water, to deep, rustic colors. Adachi slides a few of them over to either side, and to keep things from getting suspicious, keeps a few for himself.]

You guys should try these. The big wigs in the city always used to order 'em. Heard they make every game ten times more interesting. It sure makes you glad all the joints are free around here, though. Usually, I can't even afford these on my salary!

You like this kinda stuff? I always thought you were pretty weak to alcohol.
