IDENTITY CRISIS

Uh oh. Everyone seems to have forgotten themselves. Literally. People are starting to think they're someone else; even people they don't even know. (AKA: not limited to the character's fandom k) They suddenly develop habits they've never had, unfamiliar urges, strange phrases - the whole shebang. Confuse your fandom mates, or even strangers. They may even be them - or you.

Feel free to work with this however you want. Trigger it, slowly work into their 'new personality', or maybe they just woke up that way. As for how they snap out of it... that's up to you. Or if they do. Have fun with it!

[Just sitting there, in the middle of a...park, on a benign little bench, is Adachi. He's staring down at his knees as if faced with a great conundrum, but the quiet only lasts for a few seconds.

Suddenly, he stands up, hands clenching into fists, and face twisted into a mean grimace. Violently, he shouts:]

No! I don't like guys! What're you trying to suggest?!

[As if it had personally offended him, he kicks his heel into a small tree, with enough force to slightly shake the trunk, a few stray leaves falling onto the ground. Then, he flips it the bird, going as far as to also push down his elbow with one hand, while pulling up the fist of that arm in another rude (yet familiar) gesture. Now he just needs shades and a tank-top with a skull motif to complete the look.]

[Meanwhile, not far away, Dojima hears the ruckus - only to look over at the back and see a... peculiarly out-of-character Adachi. (Somewhat.) Dojima has been outside of an alley, staring at a pristine, oddly beautiful cardboard box. (Just how can a cardboard box be beautiful, anyway?) He has the oddest urge to get inside it... But alas, Adachi seems to be having some kind of dilemma with a tree. With great reluctance, he tears himself away, approaching the man.]

Adachi?

[Adachi rounds on him, and even though he's smaller in stature, he seems to draw his shoulders out, puffing out his chest.]

What're you lookin' at, punk?!

...Huh?

[Dojima blinks at Adachi, caught off guard by the reaction. He looks sort of... ridiculous puffed up like that.]

Who're you callin' a punk? What's gotten into you?

[Strange induced effects aside, Adachi seems to struggle for a moment with conflicting interest. A look crosses his face - one of confusion and general all-around, 'What am I doing?']

Uh. Well. I'm not exactly-...what were we talking about?

[With a rather unamused look, Dojima crosses his arms, chin tilted up.]

You were in the middle of calling me a punk. What's going on here?

[A flinch. He had been fruitlessly hoping that Dojima might not have caught that, with his old man hearing and all. It tended to be selective - Adachi just forgot it tended to be selective against his favor.]

It just came naturally? Heh, heh.

[It was a weak cover-up, but how were you supposed to explain to someone that you just suddenly felt it was right to call them names like that? Still, there was something in that authoritative look Dojima was giving that put Adachi on his guard. No good adults always thinkin' I'm up to no good without even knowing what I'm doing. Well they call all BITE ME-

...He doesn't even realize the grimace on his face, or that he said that last part out loud.]

[Dojima's brow dips, mouth falling open in a surprised (and terribly confused) expression. He knows this place well enough to realize something is up with the man. The whole way he speaks is different in his outbursts. And - 'adults'? That's not right. Something about it sounds familiar, though...]

You realize you're an adult too, don't you, Adachi?

[A blink. Or two.]

Huh? Yeah, 'course I am. Why're you asking, Dojima-san?

[The man retreats a step, looking Adachi up and down. He looks the same. This isn't a different Adachi or something, is it? Nah, that still wouldn't explain.]

Do you realize you're doing that?

[An annoyed huff. Looking off to the side like some scolded teenager, Adachi mumbles under his breath.]

You useless cops are always asking if I know what I'm doing - 'course I do! I don't need some two-bit old man telling me what to do with my life. I'll fight if I wanna!

What the- you were a cop too! And you don't even fight!

[Maybe Dojima is losing his patience, or this is becoming irritatingly familiar.]

Then where do you think these scars come fr-

[Leaning forward, Adachi points an all-important finger at his temple...except there's nothing there. Maybe if you look closely there's a smidgen of a- oh, no. That's just his eyebrow.]

...Huh? Where'd it go?

A scar? Really?

[A sigh, and Dojima shakes his head.]

No scars, but you sure might've bumped your head. Maybe I should take you to the hospital...

I don't need no hospital! I'd rather sew myself up than have a bunch of old women poke at me.

[Maybe he wouldn't have minded the old me- ...wait.]

[That sounded... A little bit more like the Adachi he knows. Pop quiz time.]

[Almost immediately.]

[That sounded like an odd cross between... No, it can't be.]

Come on, I'm taking you to a doctor.

[In a strange reverse of roles, Dojima takes his wrist, tugging him along.]

H-hey!

[Simultaneously blushing and yanking his arm free, Adachi backs away from Dojima, despite putting up his fists.]

Wh-what's with the touchy-feely, buster!

[Don't you know, Dojima? Interesting men make Adatsumi Tohji awfully defensive.]

[Adachi, blushing? Something is seriously wrong.]

C'mon, we have to sneak into the hospital so-

[Wait a second - sneak? What's wrong with the front door? Dojima shakes his head.]

I mean, go to the hospital and get your head checked out.

There's nothing wrong with my head! You old hags know nothing - bleaching is in style, you hear? In style!

[But Dojima cuts himself off, figuring it's useless. He reaches in his pocket for his smokes, pulling one out and lighting it up.]

Where's a cardboard box when you need one..?
